Obama, Clinton come to NW Ohio

This weekend both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will be in NW Ohio to rally with supporters. Earlier this week, John McCain visited Perrysburg amid speculation that he may have had an improper relationship with a lobbyist in the past.

My wife and I are most likely going to hear Sen. Obama speak at Savage Hall. Of all the candidates, Sen Obama speaks to what I believe is the widest audience with his message of hope and change. He certainly has encouraged many young people to become involved in the political process and hopefully he can attract supporters who are independents and Republicans to rally behind him in the general election if he is the Democratic nominee.

Sen. Clinton has roughly the same platform as Obama, but it appears that she draws relatively high negative ratings as a result of her long tenure on the political scene nationally. Either she or Obama would be light years better than the current occupant of the White House, and also better than Sen. McCain, who appears to favor the status quo with his support of President Bush's policies.

It is time for a change in America and Ohio will again be key to the election in November. Hopefully NW Ohio democrats will rally around our eventual nominee and we'll take back the country from the folks who have led us to record debts, a declining standard of living and move toward a more prosperous environment with peace through strength with a government which seeks solutions to our health care crisis, and protects us from our adversaries in an intelligent and effective manner.
